Blog 4:The French and Inidan War

22 Years Later

This war has taken so long. I'm now 37 years old and finally the war between the French and British is over. My father has told me so much about it, but he died a long time ago. The british won and the French got nothing. The locals have returned and a celebration has started and I'm missing it by writing this. The French got all their land taken away they say. A treaty was passed that the French lose all their land and Spain has it now. No more French trying to take our land. It has been a very memorable 23 years in the New World, but I'm very tired of it. My husband and I want to take an adventure or visit some old friends. Maybe even move to live with some old friends, but until we decide I'm done writing for awhile.

Blog 3:Ohio River Valley

A Year Later

My father just got back from the war! My father had joined the local militia a year ago and just got back from the Ohio River Valley. He told us all about it. The Ohio River Valley is widely used by the British, the French, and the Native Americans. He told us that the French have been trying to take the valley to use it for fur trade. Both of the two countries want the valley for fur trade. The fur trade is very profitable and both countries want in on it. Since the conflict started a war has now started. We're safe here in Virginia, but my father went off to help. My father told me that the British were trying to get the Native Americans on their side, but the French were doing the same. He said that they needed the Native Americans alliance so they would have a bigger army which made for an advantage on their side.

Blog 2:British Influence

Virginia's government is unfair. King James I gave the Virginia Company a charter to start a new colony because of their charter we now have to follow the rules of the governor that the King hired. The King hand selected the governor so the governor could follow everything the King wanted. So the people of Virginia have no say in what goes on in the government.
We're pretty much living the same life, but just in a different place.

Blog 1:Geography Effects Economy

Since my family moved here my father has tried a few different jobs, but ended up being a plantation owner. He used to be a ship builder, but he nearly cut off his leg, then he tried trading overseas. My father discovered he gets violently seasick very easily.
My father's plantation is very big and we grow cotton. Even though I begged and pleaded for him not to my father has slaves working for him. I think slaves shouldn't have to work against their own will.
In Virginia we have fetile soil which helps growing the cotton. The warnth here helps the plants a lot, too. One summer I visited my friends in New York and I don't get how they could grow anything because it was freezing cold.
